Before We Compose an Essay

If we are told to make an essay, then we cannot directly arrange our opinions into paragraph and claim it as an essay. Well, it is true that there is an essay that composed by opinions, but not only an opinion, it should be supported by clear and valid evidence. Another reason why we should not directly write our opinion on the essay is because there are several essay types and each of them is having its own characteristic, so if we just write down our opinion, then we will definitely unable to fulfill the essay qualification. Some of the essay types are description, definition, classification, sequence, evaluation, explanation, choice, and compare and contrast essay. Of course, description essay will have a different character with compare and contrast essay, so make sure to analyze which type of essay we want to compose and learn the essay characteristic first before we make any composing.

Another type of essay that we should pay attention to is criticism essay. On this essay type, we have to master the topic and able to give strong evidence. Essay is usually not as long as thesis or research paper and it has different format than other type of papers. Essay is having three major elements: introduction, supporting paragraph and summary paragraph. To make a good essay, we cannot directly write down the material or our opinion. We have to do a prewriting first to make a sketch of our essay, after we have foundations on the essay, then we can start to do the writing. After the writing is done, make sure to recheck and do some polishing. The most important thing on essay writing process is definitely prewriting. It is because prewriting is the foundation of the essay content. We will not be able to compose high quality and strong essay if we are unable to build good foundation.

On the education essay prewriting process, we have to make a brainstorming of what topic we are going to write and create some questions related to the topic, such as how can internet give an impact to the young generation? With the question, we will get the clue of what things we should and we should not discuss on the essay. If we have collected materials, make a diagram on the relationship of the questions with the materials. After we get the complete sketch, we can make it as the guide of our writing.
